The Civil War has brought devastating effects in Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria. More than a half of the urban fabric was severely damaged. Many ancient buildings and monuments were partially or even totally destroyed, including UNESCO world heritage sites such as the 13th Century Citadel (built circa 3rd millennium BC and occupied by Greeks, Byzantines, Ayyubids and Mamluks). Another devastating attack happened in Janaury 15th 2013, the same day when first examination period started at University of Aleppo. The School of Architecture and adjacent building, the students houses, got targeted by two missiles causing massive destruction and 242 casualties (82 deaths and 160 injured among students, tutors and children). In the midst of chaos and absence of basic infrastructures (electricity, water, heating, communication, medicines nor even food), students managed to finish their exams on that semester.

The lecture shared on a personal level the crucial moments of the Syrian war and specifically on student's daily life, navigating through their concerns and dreams, plans and hopes in contrast to before and after the war.
